Talk for Writing

Supporting Reading
Jamie has an MA in Education, which he devoted to better understanding reading comprehension. His final dissertation 'Is it really reading?' received a high distinction grade and was labelled a "tour de force" by the lead marker. As an accredited Talk for Reading consultant, he is well placed to support schools with that approach, but also works with schools to improve phonics outcomes, increase reading mileage and to develop more sophisticated reading cultures.
Unpicking Primary Maths
Maths in the UK is at something of an impasse. Many schools have invested heavily in recommended schemes or approaches, and yet results have stagnated. If this is your school, Mr-E Education can help. Drawing on systematic school improvement work and years of experience working with challenged young mathematicians, Jamie will help you identify your areas of development and work together to get your maths curriculum on track.
Getting it Right - Securing Accurate Transcription
Many schools have a transcription problem. Jamie is a firm believer that weak spelling, handwriting or application of fundamental punctuation rules should never be a barrier to a child achieving the expected standard. Training and consultancy support builds on the idea of the "300 Principle of Fluency" to secure enough accurate practice, and includes simple resources to integrate into your school curriculum
Leading the Curriculum
A great education in all subject areas should not come down to the creativity of individual teachers or leaders, but leading a successful primary curriculum is no easy feat. It requires strong leadership, ambition, creativity and systematic checks and measures to ensure that leaders' ambitions match the children's experience.
Mr-E Education will support leaders to systematically evaluate their current curriculum, identify a vision and set out a systematic school improvement programme to move the school towards that vision.
