About Mr-E Education
Jamie has worked with schools of all types, sizes and dispositions both nationally and internationally on school improvement projects for a number of years, and also continues to work part-time as a Deputy Headteacher in charge of teaching, learning and assessment at a primary school in Kent. As an accredited Talk for Writing trainer, Jamie has implemented Talk for Writing and Talk for Reading with schools all over the world as well as his own, and led on the development of curriculum and assessment systems for all subjects. In a recent Ofsted inspection (2026), inspectors noted that the curriculum at his school "could not be better."
He continues to teach across all year groups both in his own school and those he works with; he has a passion for storytelling and story play in the Early Years and KS1, but is equally at home in Year 6 where he first started out as a teacher.
In later years, his work teaching maths to children in upper Key Stage 2 who were fundamentally struggling taught him a huge amount about the role of conceptual understanding to 'stick' concepts together over time, as well as the need to teach children to be mathematicians, rather than just teaching maths. He remains a strong advocate for effective mathematics teaching and the importance of strong, skilled teacher decisions.
Jamie believes that it is the role of school leaders to develop a culture of high expectations, creativity and excellence - he believes that no child should be left behind and in his own school, has instilled the firm belief that every child should reach the expected standard in all areas. During the most recent Ofsted inspection (2026), the school was awarded a 'Strong' judgement in all areas, with inspectors noting that pupils' work was "impressive."
His research for a Masters in Education focused on reading comprehension, with the final dissertation 'Is it really reading?' achieving a high distinction. He also presented his findings on the effect of reading mileage on comprehension outcomes at the UKLA International Conference so is well-placed to support schools in developing reading.
